Tell us about Grace and May Home
We are Grace and May; two sisters who share a passion for eco inspired living.
A pledge to live a more sustainable and eco-conscious lifestyle at home led us to launch our own independent business, bringing the very best British products to you.
We are proud to share the ideal that it is possible to have a beautiful home whilst supporting British business and joining an ever-growing group of like-minded individuals, who are aware of their shopping impact on the wider environment.
We sell British made eco friendly products including vegan and plastic free products with ranges in beauty, stationery, homeware, gifts and craft.
So, why Burton?
Grace (Wendy) lives in Burton and has done for the last 3 years. We believe there is not currently a large offering for eco-friendly products so we launched online to share our passion.
What makes you different?
We are locals who want to inspire other people that it is possible to make a few small changes at home. All of the products that we have on our website, we do actually use ourselves. May will rave about our beauty products and Grace loves using all the homeware range. We are also focused on building solid relationships with British suppliers, designers and manufacturers – choosing a more eco-friendly lifestyle doesn’t mean that you have to buy a mass produced item or have it shipped to you from overseas. There are some incredible products to be found right here in the UK.
Despite only starting out in March 2020 you are already picking up accolades and awards how has it been being in the spotlight?
We recently won Theo Paphitis’ Small Business Sunday, on 1st February 2021, which sees Dragon’s Dens TV star Theo recognise independent small British businesses. We were also finalists for ‘Best New Business’ at the Women’s Business Awards in December 2020. Both of these opportunities have been incredibly positive for our business in terms of customer engagement, website traffic, sales and validation of our business model.
Why do you love being a business owner?
We just love meeting all the amazing people who share our passion for eco living and helping them with their own eco journey. We love seeing people’s reactions to our products and giving them ideas for their own lifestyles.
So, what is next for Grace and May?
Currently our aim is to continue to grow the business and meet more of our wonderful customers. We have numerous pop-up shops planned throughout the year, which will give us the perfect chance to get our business name out there and showcase our range of eco-friendly products.
And, if you had to pick a favourite place in Burton where would it be?
We love walking around Burton including The Washlands and along the Canals and love visiting some local watering holes along the way but there are too many to choose from!
