Burton entrepreneur receives prestigious award

Former journalist who now helps businesses to raise their profile and get noticed has been recognised with a prestigious award from one of the country’s top business women.

Cheryl Morris, of Creative Word PR, has been recognised for her success as a female entrepreneur in the Women on Wednesday (#WOW) awards run by the chief executive of Gold Group International Jacqueline Gold CBE.

Estimated as the 16th richest woman in Great Britain Jacqueline runs the awards through her Twitter page and celebrates business women she feels ‘have potential to grow and succeed in their industry’.

Selecting Burton based Creative Word PR from the multitude of nominees, Jacqueline Gold CBE said: “Creative Word PR expertly works with a range of businesses to help get their news noticed by the right audience. Cheryl Morris, who trained as a journalist at the Burton Mail completing a Diploma in Journalism before going on to write for BBC online and work in a unitary authority press office, now runs Midland’s PR and copywriting specialist service Creative Word PR.

Supporting businesses to shout about their successes, clients have received coverage in everything from local to regional, trade and even national press including Marie Claire, Yahoo Style, Metro, The Sun, Families online, Woman magazine and BBC online.

Speaking about the award, which follows being crowned #Queen of Business Wordsmith in an online business award, Cheryl said she was honoured to have been recognised for her hard work.

I don’t believe that national coverage should be reserved for larger companies and wanted to help companies of all sizes from start-ups to SMEs and established regional firms to get their message heard.

Women on Wednesday (#WOW) takes place every week and is run through Jacqueline’s Twitter page. When selecting the winners, Jacqueline looks for businesses that are interesting, that have strong brand values and that she thinks have potential to grow and succeed in their industry.

She looks for quality products and services, well designed websites and entrepreneurs who demonstrate good business acumen and who have spotted a gap in the market that meets the consumer’s needs.
